One Design, Two Visions: The Journey from Runway to Custom

At Designed by Katherine, my goal is to bring bold, high-fashion concepts to life while making them uniquely personal for each client. Recently, I had the pleasure of designing a striking red gown for the runway—an embodiment of drama, texture, and movement. This design then became the foundation for a custom version I created for my client, resulting in a beautiful transformation that tailored the original concept to her specific vision.

The Runway Showstopper: A Bold Red Creation

The runway piece was designed to captivate with its vibrant red hue and intricate ruffle details. Each ruffle was carefully crafted to create a sense of movement, texture, and drama as the model glided down the runway. The deep V-neckline added a daring edge, while the flowing silhouette and floor-length design embodied elegance and power.

From Runway to Client: The Burgundy Version

Inspired by the original red gown, I created a custom version for my client that maintained the essence of the runway piece but with subtle changes to suit her preferences. This version, done in a rich burgundy color, exudes a sense of sophistication while keeping the same signature ruffle details that make the design so dynamic.

One of the main differences is the neckline. While the original red dress featured a deep plunge, the burgundy gown for my client features a more modest cut, perfectly balancing elegance and wearability. The sleeveless design allowed for a more refined and structured look, while the cascading ruffles remained the centerpiece of the gown, adding texture and visual interest.
